# Canceling a Class

Occasionally, you will need to cancel a Class. When this occurs, you should cancel the students enrolled in the class or move them to another class. You are not billed for students in cancelled classes, for this reason you are unable to cancel a class that has started. Once a class has started you will need to contact the help desk for assistance.

There are two options for changing a class status, by editing the class or by updating the status in the Find Classes search results.

## Cancel a Class by Editing a Class

To cancel a future class after all the enrollments have been cancelled or moved:

1. On the **Admin** menu in the **Classes** group, select **Find Classes** link. This opens up the Find Classes page.
2. Enter the Search Filters criteria for the class and select **Search**.
3. In the results, select the class **Name** for the class you want. This will open the Class page.
4. On it, select **Edit**.
5. On the **Status** dropdown, select **Cancelled** and select **Save**.

## Change a Class Status in the Find Class Search Results

On the Find Classes search page you have the option to update the class status of future classes.

1. On the **Admin** menu in the **Classes** group, select **Find Classes** link. This opens up the Find Classes page.
2. Enter the Search Filters criteria for the class and select **Search**.
3. In Status column of the results, a **Pencil icon** displays next to any class status that can be changed. **Click on the Pencil icon or the status**, **expand the drop down menu to select a new status**.
4. Click the **Save** icon beside the status to update the class.

A class is a scheduled instructor-led event with a start and end time/date. Typically, these include lectures and hands on activities such as labs.
