# Creating an External Classroom

There may be times when you will be holding a Class at a site external to your Organization's physical location. You can create a classroom for this site. When you use this classroom for a class in the Skillable TMS, your students and instructor can select the *Classroom* name link to see its address, and, if provided, a map. In addition, you can control Enrollments based on its capacity.

## Create an External Classroom

To create a classroom outside your organization:

1. On the **Admin** menu in the **Classrooms** group, select **Create Classroom**. This opens up the Create Classroom page.
2. On the **Basic Information** tab, type the **Name** of the classroom and set its **Capacity**. The Organization field is automatically filled in from your profile.
3. Select the **External Location** tab and select the **Is an external location** checkbox.
4. Complete the address fields for the external classroom.
5. If you have directions or a URL to a map for the classroom location, add it in the **Directions/Map URL** field.
6. Check **Show map in page** if you want a map to be generated on the **Classroom** page based on the address entered.
7. Select **Save**.

A class is a scheduled instructor-led event with a start and end time/date. Typically, these include lectures and hands on activities such as labs.

An organization is assigned to each entity in the TMS, such as, users, classes, subscriptions, and courses. The organization is a basis to determine access given based on roles within the organization and management over the organization.

An enrollment is the student registration for a class. Enrollments have multiple statuses, but only the Enrollment Status of Enrolled gives a student access to class. Within the enrollment the student will access the labs and activities and if set up digital courseware and virtual classroom for their class.
