# Creating Multiple Course Assignments

A Course Assignment allows you to give access to a Course's Activities and resources to a student. Course assignments begin when they are created, and the student's access usually expires after 6 months. They are not designed to be supervised by an instructor in a physical or virtual classroom, they are designed for the student to do on their own.

## Create Course Assignments

Take the following steps to create Course Assignments:

1. Click **Create Multiple Course Assignments** on the **Course Assignments** tile from the Administration page.
2. Click **Add Courses**. Enter any search criteria to find the course you wish to use for the Course Assignment.
3. Select the course and click **OK**. Multiple course can be selected if needed.
4. Click **Add Students** to select a student to assign the Course Assignment to. Multiple students can be selected if needed.
5. If the student does not have a User Profile yet, click **Create Student**.
6. (Optional) Add a **Note** to the course assignment. If the note is of high importance, check the box to mark it as high importance.
7. Click **Save** to create the course assignment for the selected students.

After the Course Assignment is created, students can access the Course Assignment from the **Current Training** link on their user account.

A course assignment delivers self-paced access to a course. A course is assigned to a student giving immediate access to the student. It can be accessed at any time for the duration of the assignment. The assignment duration begins and is billed when it is created.

Bundles together content to then be set up for training through classes, subscriptions, and course assignments. Courses can include labs, videos, SCORM, LTI, external links, assessments, and documents. Courses must be assigned to a Content Provider and a Publishing Group to be available to set up for training.

Activities are configured in the instructions editor and represented in the lab instructions by a replacement token. Activities fall into two broad categories: Questions and Automated.

- Questions are multiple choice or short answer questions.
- Automated Activities interact with the lab environment (Virtual Machine/Container/Cloud Platform).

The user profile contains information about the user and their preferences, including roles, managed organizations, and settings.
