# How Do I Switch Between VMs?

Skillable Labs allow you to access multiple Virtual Machines (VMs) in a lab, and switch between them as needed.

## How do I switch between Virtual Machines?

There are two options to switch between Virtual Machines:

- The Machine Menu
- The Resources tab

When switching to a different VM, the current VM stays powered on and in the state that you left it in.

### Machine Menu

The quickest way to switch VMs, is to use the Machine menu that is located at the top of the lab window.

1. Open the **Machine menu** by selecting the name of the machine you are currently working in at the top of the lab window.
2. Select the name of the machine you would like to use next.
3. The lab will switch to the selected VM.

### Resources Tab

You can also use the Resources tab that is located on the right side of the VM window.

1. Select the **Resources** tab. All virtual machines that are in the lab are listed here.
2. Select the machine you would like to use next.
3. The lab will switch to the selected VM.

A virtual machine is the virtualization or emulation of a computer system. Virtual machines are based on computer architectures and provide the functionality of a physical computer.
