Overview
Use Microsoft Edge's built-in translation tools to instantly translate Skillable labs into your preferred language. This capability makes global training more accessible and effective, ensuring learners everywhere can fully engage with content and build skills without language barriers.
How it works: Launch the Skillable lab using Edge. If the lab's default language isn't one of your preferred languages in Edge's settings, Edge should detect this automatically.
What you can expect
With Edge, you can:
- Translate labs into more than 100 languages instantly.
- Use the browser without any required extensions or add-ons.
- View instructions in your own language while keeping the same lab interface.
- Work seamlessly across all labs built on Skillable's platform.
Translate a Lab Using Microsoft Edge
Edge often detects pages in a foreign language automatically. When it does, a translation prompt appears near the address bar asking whether you want to translate the page. You can use this prompt to convert the whole page into your preferred language.
If you don't see the translation prompt, you can trigger translation manually:
- Launch your assigned Skillable lab in Microsoft Edge.
- Translate your lab:
- Right-click anywhere in the lab instructions and select Translate to [Your Language].
- Or select the Translate icon in the address bar and then use the dropdown to select your preferred language.
- (Optional) Save your language preferences automatically:
- If prompted, check Always translate from [Language] to see labs in your preferred language by default.
- (Optional) Save your language preferences manually:
- From Edge, navigate to Settings.
- In the left sidebar, select Languages and then click Add Languages.
- In the Add languages dialog, select all the languages you want to add to your Edge settings.
- Click Add to finish adding your language preferences.
If you add more than one language to your Edge settings, you can reorder them to ensure the default is your preferred language. Edge uses this list to determine whether a page is "foreign".
Limitations and Tips
- Translations are generated automatically, so they may be imperfect (especially with technical or domain-specific lab instructions).
- Some UI elements or images with embedded text might not translate.
- If Edge doesn't detect the language or if the translation prompt doesn't show, try refreshing the page, clearing the cache, or verifying your Edge settings.
