# Managing Labs in TMS

This article will provide the user with information on how to use Course labs on Skillable TMS and perform actions such as launching, saving, cancelling and relaunching labs.

## Best Practices

It is advisable to save your lab before exiting instead of cancelling. Cancelling the lab will result in the loss of all progress made, whereas saving the lab will preserve the work that has already been completed.

## Launch a Lab

A Class Enrollment for instructor-led training or a Course Assignment for Self-Paced training is required to launch a lab.

**Launching from Class Enrollment**

1. Open the relevant class under active classes from the user's dashboard.
2. On the enrollment page under the Activities section select the **Launch** button for the lab
3. Lab opens in a new window.

**Launching from Course Assignment**

1. Open the relevant course assignment under **active course assignments** from the user's dashboard.
2. On your course assignment under the Table of Contents select the **name of the lab**.
3. Lab opens in a new window.

## Cancel a Lab

If a user cancels a lab session, they will not be able to access the work they have done in it; however, they can start a new lab session if they have any lab sessions available.

1. From the lab window's Instructions pane in the upper right corner, open the **hamburger menu**.
2. Select **End**
3. Select the radio button for **Cancel my lab**
4. Select **OK**
5. Close the lab window

## Save a Lab

Saving a lab retains your work in the lab allowing you to come back to where you left off and continue working through it. You are given an end date and time when the saved lab will be cancelled. Once your lab is saved you may open and save the lab again to obtain a new cancellation date and extend your time to work on it. Relaunching a saved lab does not count against your total lab launches.

1. From the lab window's Instructions pane in the upper right corner, open the **hamburger menu**
2. Select **Save**
3. Note the date and time the lab will be cancelled
4. Select **Yes, save my lab**
5. Close the lab window

## Relaunch a Lab

Relaunching a lab allows the user to continue their work from where they left off in a saved lab. The user may continue a lab by opening it from their enrollment or course assignment where they originally launched it or from their active labs on their dashboard.

#### Open a Saved Lab from Student Dashboard

1. From the user's dashboard, under **active labs** select the lab.
2. Lab opens in a new window

#### Open a Saved Lab from User Enrollment

1. From the user's dashboard, open the relevant class under **active classes**
2. On the user's enrollment under the Activities section find your saved lab and select the **Launch** button for the lab
3. Lab opens in a new window

#### Open a Saved Lab from User's Course Assignment

1. From the user's dashboard, open the relevant course assignment under **active course assignment**
2. On your course assignment under the Table of Contents find the lab with the saved icon and select on the **name of the lab**
3. Your lab opens in a new window
