# Using Multiple Classrooms for a Class

When you create a Class, you can add one or more classrooms to the class. One classroom will be marked as the primary classroom and will show up on the Find Classes output.

## Multiple Classrooms in a Class

To add multiple classrooms to a class:

1. Expand the **Delivery** section of the **Create/Edit Class** page and select **Add Classroom**. This will open the Choose Classroom dialog box. This dialog box is automatically filtered for classrooms that do not have a schedule conflict with the sessions of the class.
2. Set or remove any filters necessary including the **Schedule Conflict** filter and select **Search**. All classrooms matching your criteria will be displayed.
3. Select the ones you want to add to the class and select **OK**.
4. The first one listed will be the Primary classroom by default. To change this, select the **Primary** radial button for the classroom you want set as the primary. The primary classroom is the one that will be displayed in the Find Classes results in the Classroom column.
5. Finish creating/editing the class and select **Save**.
  1. If you have removed the automatic filter for schedule conflicts and one of the classrooms has a conflict, you will be notified upon attempting to save. Select **Yes** to continue saving the class with the classroom conflict or select **No** to go back and change the conflict.

Classrooms can be booked for more than one class at a time, however, classroom capacity effects student Enrollments. The Skillable TMS checks any overlapping use of the classroom when a student enrollment has a classroom added.

## Multiple Classrooms and Enrollments

For classes with only one classroom, all students enrolled are automatically assigned to that classroom. When a class has multiple classrooms, the student registrations default to "To be determined" for the classroom. A specific classroom needs to be set on each student either on their enrollment or in the roster. The Skillable TMS will allow a student to be seated in a classroom as long as the capacity for the classroom has an open seat. You will not be able to save the enrollment if the classroom capacity is full. Therefore, you might want to check the number of free seats in a classroom before assigning it to an enrollment. To do this:

1. Navigate to and filter the **Find Classes** page by the classroom and select **Search**. All classes that are scheduled in that classroom, regardless of whether that classroom is the primary classroom, will be displayed.
2. View each class roster to count the number of students using the classroom.
3. On Site Admin, select **Find Classrooms** on the **Classrooms** tile.
4. Select the **Name** of the classroom with the conflict.
5. Check the capacity set on the **Classroom** profile.

If you are blocked from saving an enrollment because the classroom does not have any seats left, you will need resolve the capacity issue or choose a different classroom for the student. To resolve the issue:

- Change the capacity set on the classroom profile if possible -OR-
- Change one of the other enrollments from this class or another class using the classroom.

A class is a scheduled instructor-led event with a start and end time/date. Typically, these include lectures and hands on activities such as labs.

An enrollment is the student registration for a class. Enrollments have multiple statuses, but only the Enrollment Status of Enrolled gives a student access to class. Within the enrollment the student will access the labs and activities and if set up digital courseware and virtual classroom for their class.
