The Skillable Lab Client has a feature called Type Text, which assists with entering information from the lab's instructions into the VM or cloud window that users work in. Some applications may not function properly when using Type Text to enter information. If an application supports an autocomplete function, it may interfere with Type Text.
Working Around the Issue
If you attempt to enter text using Type Text and encounter an error or the text is not input properly due to autocomplete, perform the following workaround.
- If you are using a Windows virtual machine (VM), open Notepad. If you are using a different operating system, open the equivalent for that operating system.
- For macOS, use TextEdit. For Linux, use the preinstalled text editor in the distro of Linux you are using.
- Select the text input area in Notepad or the text editor you are using.
- Select the Type Text button next to the text in the lab's instructions.
- Allow the text to be entered.
- Highlight and select the text that was entered into Notepad or the text editor.
- Copy the text, by right-clicking and choosing Copy.
- Select the text input field in the application you are using. This should be the application that you were experiencing issues with when using Type Text initially.
- Paste the text into the application, by right-clicking and choosing Paste.
- The text you were attempting to enter using Type Text should now be entered into the application. Repeat these steps for any other text that is unable to be entered by Type Text due to autocomplete in the application.
