Localizing the Lab Interface and Instruction Sets
Localizing the Lab Interface
The Skillable Studio Lab Client may be viewed in several languages. Translations are in place for platform-based wording like headings, labels and links, based on the language setting that is configured in your web browser. Any data that is input into a field (or pulled from a field) displays as it is written.
Localizing Lab Instruction Sets
Lab instruction sets can be localized via AI in Skillable Studio. After Lab Instructions are localized to another language, they can be displayed to users in that language.
Localizing Lab Instruction Sets with AI
Unlock the power of AI to streamline Lab Instructions localization. With this feature, users can effortlessly clone a source Instruction Set and translate instructions into any supported language, saving valuable time and ensuring clear communication.
Lab authors can clone a source instruction set and effortlessly translate it by selecting the desired destination language, ensuring clear communication across borders.

Localizing Lab Launches via API
Localizing the Lab Interface and Lab Instructions via API
When an Instruction Set on a Lab Profile has been localized, manually or using AI, individual lab launches can be localized to a language of your choosing, by using the lang
parameter when submitting an API call to launch a lab. This allows each learner to launch a lab in their preferred language.
Note: Each supported language is available to localize the Lab Interface, but each Lab Instruction Set must be localized by the author of the Lab Instructions before it is available via an API launch.
For more information about launching a lab via API, read our Launch a Lab via API documentation.
Changing Settings in Web Browsers
In Microsoft Edge, the language is tied to the local machine's language settings.
- Set your local machine settings to the desired language.
In browsers such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox;
- Open the Settings menu and locate the language settings section.
- Ensure the desired language is listed at the top of the list of languages.
Changing Keyboard Layout to Work with Lab Interface
In a Skillable Studio lab, you can use international keyboard layouts and languages. Depending on the lab platform and controller, you might need to adjust your browser or Virtual Machine (VM) settings.
To ensure the best experience with international keyboard layouts in the lab interface, follow these general steps:
- Set your browser language to match the desired keyboard language.
- Set the VM language to match the desired keyboard language.
- Set the VM keyboard layout to match the physical keyboard layout.
- To avoid confusion and errors, use the same language for your browser, VM, and keyboard layout.
- To find out which keyboard layouts are supported by the lab platform and controller, refer to the Supported Keyboard Layouts section of this page.
